JAY LENO'S JAY LENO’S “BIG DOG GARAGE” INVITES MEGUIAR’S TO
DEMONSTRATE PROPER CAR CARE TECHNIQUES

Meguiar’s Participates in “How-To” Videos for Comedian’s Automotive Website,
Demonstrating Car Care Techniques

Irvine, Calif. (July 2007) - Not many people can boast a private 17,000 square-foot garage, especially one that houses a remarkable car collection spanning 100 years of automotive history. Known as the "Big Dog Garage," it is the creation of comedian, Tonight Show host and passionate car guy Jay Leno. When Jay decided to enhance his website www.jaylenosgarage.com with additional educational "How-To" video clips, he turned to the paint and surface care experts at Meguiar's for detailing tips and advice.

"It was very flattering to participate and of course great fun to work on Jay's cars," said Mike Pennington, Meguiar's Director of Training, and one of the foremost experts in appearance care techniques. "Jay's vehicles are perfect for car care demonstration videos because they are show quality collector cars he actually drives, so they require the same attention to cleaning and polishing as everyone's daily driver."

Over the course of two video shoots, Meguiar's demonstrated four car care techniques - clay bar paint cleaning, metal polishing, proper wheel care, and paint maintenance.

Using Meguiar's Smooth Surface™ Clay Kit on Jay's 1967 Chrysler Imperial's rear deck, Pennington explained the best techniques for removing above surface bonded contaminants like tree sap, overspray, fallout, and water deposits by using the non-abrasive clay bar to restore a smooth surface to the car's paint finish. "We wanted to showcase clay techniques, because it's easy and it's what professional detailers have been doing for years. Now more and more Do-It-Yourself'ers are learning these trade secrets and doing it themselves," said Pennington.
Next Pennington moved to the collection's 1931 Bentley Brooklands single-seater racer, where he polished the car's hand-fabricated aluminum air intake with Meguiar's Hot Rims® Mag & Aluminum Polish. Created to give wheels and other metal surfaces an amazing mirror-like shine, it quickly and easily removes oxidation, tarnish and stains without the use of noxious and hazardous chemicals. Instead, this polish has a hot cinnamon scent.

In the latest video to post on the site, Pennington demonstrates the amazing "hydrophobic" water beading technology in Ultimate Quik Detailer. Unlike traditional mist-and-wipe products, UQD actually repels water, creating fewer, taller water beads. Pennington surprised Leno when he sprayed a panel with water and the Jay Leno's Garage.com logo popped out.

Visitors to www.jaylenosgarage.com or www.meguiars.com/video will be able to review these educational car care videos along with a wide range of technical information, and get a behind the scenes tour of one of the world's most eclectic collections of motor cars. The site also contains related automotive and collector car articles and games. Visitors can download photos of their own vehicles to include in the growing 1000+ "Your Garage" section, which regularly showcases a "Featured Fan Car."
