MEGUIAR’S® ULTIMATE QUIK DETAILER® RECEIVES PACKAGING AWARD FROM WORLD LABEL ASSOCIATION

Top-Selling New “Spray & Wipe” Detailer Awarded 1st Place for Eye-Catching Label

Irvine, Calif. (July 2008) – Less than one year after introducing revolutionary Hydrophobic Polymer Technology in its Ultimate Quick Detailer® (UQD) spray, Meguiar’s® – the world leader in automotive surface care technology – has been honored for the product’s innovative reflective label. Produced by the Meguiar’s graphic design team and WS Packaging of Algoma, Wisconsin, the label took first place in the World Label Association Awards. The combination UQD’s unique eye-catching packaging and superior mist-and-wipe performance have made it the #1 ranked new product in NPD[1] as measured by sales.

“Our design team came up with the graphics for Meguiar’s Ultimate Detailer with the goal of creating a bold, sophisticated look that grabs attention and promotes the product’s incredible gloss and depth of color,” says Barry Meguiar, president of Meguiar’s.

Meguiar’s Ultimate Quik Detailer is a revolutionary spray detailer that acts as the missing link between washing and waxing. The product utilizes new Hydrophobic Polymer Technology that increases surface tension on the paint surface when applied, which causes dramatically improved water beading and a “show car shine” that car guys love.  Perfect for removing dust and fingerprints, Ultimate Quik Detailer leaves an ultra-slick, ultra-dark finish and is safe on all paint surfaces.

WS Packaging’s Promo Prism label has been used by Meguiar’s several times because it creates the outstanding shelf presence Meguiar’s aims for and accomplishes the company’s design goal of projecting a slick, high-tech image.  The multicolor holographic reflective label offers improved dimensional impact in retail display spaces.

“The complexity of Meguiar’s Ultimate Detailer label design required adhering to extremely tight tolerances,” said Scott Fisher, CEO of WS Packaging.  “The photo-realistic quality and the technical characteristics behind the label make it stand out from the rest on the shelf.”

The label is printed in a four-color process via UV offset, with an additional color applied UV flexo. The base material for the pressure-sensitive label is the WS Packaging-exclusive Promo Prism product, with a thickness of 2-mil and a clear over-laminate.  The Promo Prism base stock is produced by WS Packaging and features a holographic polyester rainbow effect.
